Community Grant Program

NEXUS Gas Transmission has established a community grant program to benefit the communities located along the pipeline route in Ohio and Michigan.

Our Commitment to Being a Good Neighbor

NEXUS is committed to being a good neighbor in the communities where we operate. In alignment with our charitable giving practices, NEXUS has established a community grant program with the following focus areas to benefit communities that are located along the pipeline route in Ohio and Michigan. Grant applications will be reviewed on a regular basis. One time grants will be awarded based on community need. All submitted community grant applications should address one of these focus areas:

Education and Workforce Development – We want to help provide youth the broadest options for their future and build a highly skilled employee base for our communities by investing in:

  • Programs focused on education for at-risk youth to ensure success
  • Pre-K through 12 education with an emphasis in math, science, technology and business acumen
  • Post high school / secondary school education
  • Technical and professional accreditation

Community Vitality – We want to support, bolster and grow healthy, successful communities where we live and operate by supporting organizations dedicated to:

  • Environmental education, conservation and research
  • Safety
  • Health and human services
  • Targeted arts/culture giving
  • Community enhancement
Submitting a Community Grant Application

We encourage you to take the time to fill out the grant application. We are excited to become neighbors in the communities which we will operate, and most importantly, we pride ourselves on helping others have a positive impact while creating lasting change with a legacy for others to enjoy years from now.

Qualifications for Applicant Organizations

In order to be eligible for the community grant program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • In the United States the organization must have a current and active 501(c)(3) verification from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) or be a U.S. governmental subdivision, such as a school or state hospital or municipality. In Canada, grant recipients must be recognized as a charitable organization registered with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA);
  • The organization must be active in communities along the pipeline route in Ohio and Michigan;
  • The organization’s request for funding must detail services and programs that fall within the three focus areas (education and workforce development, community vitality, and environmental stewardship); and,
  • The organization must demonstrate strong fiscal management and governance practices.
Ineligible Organizations and Programs

Please note that NEXUS does not provide community grants to the following types of organizations or programs:

  • Capital campaign and endowments;
  • Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, creed, gender, age or national origin;
  • Political activities and organizations;
  • Individuals;
  • Athletics, including individual sports teams and all-star teams;
  • Underwriting of films, video or television productions;
  • Sectarian or religious activities, including churches, synagogues and other places of worship serving only their members;
  • Conferences, trips or tours which are not education based;
  • Fraternal, labor groups or social/professional organizations serving only their members;
  • Advertising;
  • Membership or association fees, whether personal or corporate; or
  • Family foundations.

Additionally, the NEXUS Community Grant Program does not make multi-year funding commitments.

Application & Submission Guidelines

In order to be considered for the community grant program, applicant organizations must complete the online application form and submit the following with the application.

  • A request letter that provides a detailed project description, including program specifics and costs;
  • A legible, recent copy of the applicant’s 501(c)(3) tax-exempt letter or a W-9. In Canada, applicant must provide issued charitable registration number approved by the Canada Revenue Agency;
  • Background on the applicant organization, which must be less than two pages;
  • Proof of sound financial reporting; and
  • Any supporting information (webpage, brochure, or annual report) about the organization or the project.
Key Expected Deliverables
  • Before submitting an application, please take time to gather all supporting documentation and materials, as outlined under the application and submission guidelines.
  • Recipients are required to notify the NEXUS Community Grant Program immediately of significant organizational or programmatic changes throughout the term of the grant.
  • Please note that all applicants that are awarded a community grant must implement their project or program within one year from the date that the grant was received.
  • Organizations receiving funding may be asked to provide a final report detailing the results and benefits achieved through the funded project or program.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a vendor with the NEXUS project. The first step any vendor should take in seeking opportunities to provide products or services to the project is to register by filling out the form below. Companies who wish to work on the NEXUS project can register with us by completing the form below. Inclusion in this database does not guarantee that your company will receive a request to bid or a contract from NEXUS. However, by submitting the registration profile, your company will be exposed to our supply chain personnel when sourcing activity occurs.
